My name is Lucio Pozone, I was born in Naples in 1963, and my musical journey began in L'Aquila, where, at the age of eight, I began studying violin at the Alfredo Casella Conservatory. At 15, I discovered classical guitar, studying with Maestros Agostino Valente, Henry Rivas, and Alirio Diaz.
My love for flamenco guitar came at first sight in high school, when my Italian teacher gave me a record by a "certain" Paco de Lucía. It was a musical shock that changed everything, and I never imagined that, one day, our paths would actually cross.
In the 1970s, finding someone to teach flamenco guitar in Italy was impossible. So, thanks to a revolutionary priest, Don Roberto Sardelli, a lover of gypsy culture, I had the opportunity to fly to Andalusia for the first time. There I studied with a legendary maestro, a friend of Paco de Lucía: Manolo Sanlúcar.
From that moment on, Andalusia became my second home. In the years that followed, I returned often to perfect my skills with Manolo's brother, Isidro, and other great masters. In 2008, I decided to move to Seville for an extended period, living in close contact with the guardians of flamenco: the gypsies. It was then that I understood my mission: to help guitarists discover, with simplicity and clarity, the secrets of flamenco guitar, avoiding the mistakes I, without guidance, had to make.
Over the years, I have collaborated with numerous Italian and Spanish artists, appearing on television shows and music festivals in Italy, Turkey, Switzerland, Germany, and Brazil. I have recorded two CDs and founded the FlamenTangoProject. But my true passion remains teaching flamenco guitar to those who love this wonderful art form.
I pay tribute to my Italian teacher, Piero Vicari, and to Don Roberto Sardelli, for opening the doors to my musical adventure. Thanks to them, I had the honor of meeting artists such as Paco de Lucía, Manolo Sanlúcar, Isidro Sanlúcar, Gerardo Nuñez, Vicente Amigo, and many other musicians of extraordinary sensitivity.
